Skill Level: Advanced
Approx. time: 60 mins
You will need:
Square pearlised card Blue
Gold card
Blue vellum
6 Split pins or gold brads
Gold Happy Birthday peel off
Silver circle peel offs (for bubbles)
2 Wiggley eyes
1 small white bead
Orange and Yellow foam sheets
Green raffia
Sticky foam pads
Strong clear glue
Scissors
Craft knife
Pencil
Compass or something circular to draw around for porthole
Step 1: Draw two circles on the gold card to make your porthole shape and cut out. Make six small slits using the craft knife ensuring they are all pointing from outside to inside not around the circle. This means that the split pins won’t show when they are folded down. Push each split pin through a hole and fold flat.
Step 2: Draw a circle on the blue vellum that is slightly smaller than the outside of the gold circle but not smaller than the centre hole. Stick this to the card using a thin line of glue around the edge not across the centre as it may show through.
Step 3: Cut out a small circle from the orange foam with scissors. Cut out the fins and tail from the yellow foam. Stick on the eyes and mouth/bead with strong glue. Stick all of the bits of the fish onto the card as shown in the completed picture.
Step 4: Stick on a few strips of the green Rafia with strong glue to look like seaweed.
Step 5: Stick sticky foam pads onto the back of the porthole and stick into place.
Step 6: Stick the Happy Birthday peel offs in the top corners of the card and stick a few circle peel offs as bubbles on the blue vellum. If you can’t find any circle peel offs use a silver pen.
