Card Design
Projects
Step 1: Select the font type in a word processing package and change font size to 200. In a text box type number '8' to bring up the 'Merry Christmas' image. In a separate text box below: type 'q' to bring up the tree image and change font size to 250. Position this under the 'Merry Christmas' centrally. Copy and paste four times so that you have four complete pictures on one page. You may need to mess around with the positioning on the page and the margin set up to get it right. Print onto plain paper first until you get it exactly how you want it, then finally onto the vellum. Remember to change the printer settings to draft quality, so that it does not use too much ink other wise it will smudge too much. Step 2: Once the ink has dried, cut it to 2cm less than the width of the card and 5cm less than the height of your card. Step 3: Cut a triangle of scrap green card to a similar shape and size as the tree. Do not worry too much about getting it exactly the same shape as long as it is all adds to the look. Step 4: Place the vellum onto the card and lightly mark the card with a pencil underneath the tree. Stick the green card over the mark you have just made making sure it is straight. Step 5: Fix the vellum to the card with the four green eyelets in each corner. Step 6: Stick the ribbon across the top and bottom of the card with the strong glue. Another example of a card made using the same method is shown below, click it to bring up a larger picture. I cut the vellum to the same width as the card and instead of using eyelets to secure it, I stuck it down with double sided tape at the top and bottom. Then covered this with pieces of torn iridescent paper. I used a blue metallic colouring pencil to colour the hat and scarf to match.
